Why do people have sex? A study to calculate the various ways and produce 237 reasons, ranging from the beautiful to the problem of scandal. Some of the motivation comes from the heart. The others come from elsewhere on the anatomical.
The main reason to have sex is, "I was attracted to that person." According to research published in Archives of Sexual Behavior August edition, quoted by WebMD. Name researcher Cindy Meston, Ph.D., and David Buss, Ph.D., from the Department of Psychology, University of Texas, Austin.
First, they asked 203 men and 241 women aged 17-52 years in Austin, Texas, to create a list for any reason they have sex. The men and women are taking psychology classes or were participating in another study on Sexual Psychophysiology Laboratory, University of Texas.
Overall, participants write a 715 reasons to have sex. The researchers repeated eliminate reasons, filter to the remaining 237 reasons. Furthermore, Meston and Buss presented the list to 1549 psychology students and asked them to rank how often or have had sex for each of 237 reasons.
The researchers identified nine major themes that are characteristic of top reasons for having sex.
- Pure interested in other people in general
- Want to experience physical pleasure
- Expressing love
- Arising on the passions of others
- To increase the depth of the relationship
- Curiosity or seeking new experiences
- Indicates a special event to be celebrated
- Only sheer chance
- Things that can not be controlled
The study also emphasizes the five principal reasons cited by students of the frequency slightly. The main points include the wish to hurt others (spouses, enemies, or strangers), have resources (such as jobs, money, drugs, gifts), strengthening social status, using sex as something seemingly unrelated (such as ease headache), or having sex out of duty or pressure.
